Spring is one of the best seasons for activities and events in any city. And this applies in Sydney too as people take off their winter clothes and welcome the sunshine. If you’re looking for things to do in the city this season, here are some events and activities that promise to help you make the most of the new season.

Sydney Fringe Festival

Each September culture creators from all over the city join forces to demonstrate the type of city they want to live in all year round. As an open access festival, our program is curated by our artists for people of all ages and from all walks of life. Royal Botanical Garden Spring Walk

Immerse yourself in the wonderful scents, colours and shapes of spring, right by Sydney Harbour. This year the display features a mixture of bedding plants and will be in bloom from mid-August providing a spectacular spring display. Keep an eye out for the Ranunculus (Buttercup), Viola (Pansy), Dianthus (Pinks) and Lobularia (Sweet Alyssum) and many floral shades of pink, white, yellow and blues.

The Winery’s Disco Brunch

Disco is not dead apparently! The Winery is known for adding exciting twists to the classic bottomless brunch. Lush greenery set against exposed brick walls, a healthy mix of indoor and outdoor space and no shortage of plush couches, the Surry Hills venue is giving you and your mates another reason to show up on a Saturday afternoon. Get down with disco fever and enjoy a two-course brunch, two hours of bottomless cocktails, live entertainment, music and most importantly – disco music!

Pyrmont Festival

This festival runs from September 28th to October 6th and is in its ninth year. Entry is free and you can listen to live music, try some wine, and explore the regional produce on sale at this harbourside festival. It’s held at Pirrama Park Playground in Pyrmont.

Art After Hours

Every Wednesday evening, the Art Gallery of NSW welcomes you into its hallowed halls and throws the ultimate in absolutely free mid-week social and cultural events. Until 10pm, Art After Hours offers a regular program of live music, lectures and celebrity talks, drawing workshops, film screenings, gallery tours and other events – and, of course, nocturnal access to its latest exhibitions.

Sydney Night Noodle Markets

In October, Good Food Month’s Night Noodle Markets will reopen in Hyde Park North. This is the best place in the city to eat a variety of exotic dishes from favourites like Grump G’s Kitchen, Mr Bao, Black Star Pastry, Hoi Pinoy, Chur Burger Shallot Thai, Donburi Station, Chat Thai, and Bangkok Street Food. So, if you want to eat great food under the stars, make sure you don’t miss this market.

Sculpture By The Sea

This art event is one of the biggest in Sydney. It’s held on Bondi Beach between October 24th and November 10th and boasts sculptures by world-class and emerging artists from Australia and around the world.

William Street Festival

William Street is a boutique shopping area and every year it blocks off the street and fills it with food stalls, music and fashion markets. Held on October 19th, this festival starts before lunch and is a great way to enjoy some local flavour.

Sydney BeerFest

At the Centennial Parklands, BeerFest is back from the 30th of November to the 1st of December. Head down to the Parklands for musicians, chefs, comedians, and more than 300 small-batch beers and ciders as well as refreshing cocktails and wines.

Carriageworks Farmers Market

Skip breakfast and head down to eat at the Carriageworks Farmers Market in Eveleigh from August 31st. The delicious produce will send you into the most amazing confusion as you try to decide what to eat and what to take home with you.
